A few simple measurements can help you choose the right harness or coat. Measure your dog while they are standing naturally, using a soft measuring tape.
1. Chest
Measure around the widest part of the chest, usually just behind the front legs. Keep the tape flat without pulling it tight.
2. Neck
Measure around the part of the neck where the product will sit. Follow any fitting instructions supplied for the individual product.
3. Back length
For a coat, measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, unless the product's size chart gives a different method.
Compare with the product chart
Use the chart on the product page. Sizing can vary between products, so a size label such as M or XL is not a universal measurement. Check all the relevant measurements rather than relying only on breed or age.
For harness listings with lead options, check the selected variant carefully: a lead is a separate option and is not automatically included with a harness.

Dog harness or dog coat: which measurements matter?
For a harness, compare the chest and neck ranges shown on the individual listing. For a dog coat, also check the back length and any additional measurement shown in its chart. Record the measurements in centimetres so you can compare them directly.
Why an XL harness may not match an XL coat
Size labels describe a manufacturer's range rather than a universal fit. Our current nylon harness options include S–XL, while the padded coat listing offers XL–6XL depending on availability. The shared letters do not mean the dimensions are the same.
Check the selected option before checkout
- Open the product's own chart and compare every relevant measurement.
- Select the required size and colour from the available options.
- Check the item name and option in your basket.
- For harness listings, confirm whether you have selected a harness or a separate lead.
Start with our dog harnesses and leads or padded dog coats. If measurements fall between sizes, ask us before ordering; avoid guessing a fit from a photograph.
Checking the fit after delivery
Follow the product's fitting instructions and inspect the item before use. If you need to discuss a different size or a return, read our returns and refunds policy and contact us with your order number.
